MBB Bio
MBB (Made By Ball) was formed in 2010 by a group of current and former basketball players as a mechanism to celebrate their love of basketball while continuing to compete at a high level, even in a more social setting due to limited opportunities for professional basketball in that time. This became a club that aims to keep the basketball spirit alive based on a shared love for the sport. Initially the club consisted of players who had moved from Kwazulu-Natal to Gauteng for work and school. Most of the players were professionals who had been directly impacted by basketball through scholarships, allowing them to study and play locally and internationally.
MBB stands for Made By Ball, a team that is about celebrating and representing our players, our people, our community. The family driven culture of the club is based on the fact that everyone, players and management, are where they are in life largely because on their ability and experience in basketball. Due to limited opportunities to compete professionally, basketball players in South Africa are arguably the most educated sportsmen in the country.
MBB’s Objectives:
MBB’s achievements:
With the new professional path forging ahead, the culture of MBB has always remained. MBB is about family, belonging, togetherness, and using the sport of basketball to achieve these important things for themselves and for each other. MBB celebrates and represents its players, its people, its community. The MBB tagline is the colloquial phrase ‘iTeam Yase Dladleni’, which loosely translates to ‘The People’s Team’, representing how basketball has united people and created a family of people who give hope to each other, and bring each other true joy.
It is the MBB culture and values that allow the club to continue to grow; grow as players, grow as a community, and achieve desired success.
