BAL Community

BAL Community, the league’s corporate social responsibility platform, uses the game of basketball as a social connector to help create meaningful impact across the continent. Together with its partners and teams, the BAL is committed to highlighting social issues that aim to educate, unify, and keep our fanbase healthy and safe.

Special Olympics

The BAL aims to leverage its platform and events to support fundraising, raise awareness, and create positive experiences for Special Olympics (SO) athletes in all markets. To achieve this, it commits to hiring two local SO athletes to work in Game Operations, organizing Unified Games and Skills Challenges with celebrities, influencers, and BAL ambassadors, and launching a merchandise collaboration with SO, where all proceeds go to the country office.

NABU
BAL Content, Marketing and SRPP teams collaborated with NABU - publisher of multilingual children's books -  to co-create a pan-African BAL story that will be produced as a book, audiobook, and animation in multiple languages. Each version of the book is bilingual based on the country it will be promoted in – for which we will start in Senegal, Rwanda, and South Africa during the BAL Season 5. We will also engage with local community organizations and BAL teams for specific market activations around the distribution and promotion of the book. All versions of the book will also live on NABU’s global digital platforms.
