Al Ahli Tripoli prevail in BAL’s highest scoring game

With a combined 28 three-pointers, a high-scoring game was inevitable, and Al Ahli Tripoli lived up to their reputation as high scorers.

They beat APR 106-102, improving their record to 5-0 with one game left.

APR, on the other hand, dropped to 2-3.

Seven Al Ahli Tripoli players and four APR players scored at least one three-pointer in the game that recorded over 200 points.

Tripoli's Mohamed Sadi was 5-for-6 from deep, and Jaylen Adams shot 4-for-5 from behind the arc.

Jaylen Adams shot an impressive 7-for-11 from the floor.

This was Al Ahli Tripoli’s second win over APR in the conference.

Al Ahli Tripoli won the shooting battle and were ruthless in the paint, grabbing 39 rebounds compared to APR’s 29.

Jaylen Adams sparked the Libyan champions’ offense with a team-high 26 points and five others of his teammates scored 10 points or more.

Obadiah Noel did everything he could, leading APR with 30 points, while Chasson Randle added 25 for the hosts. However, allowing Tripoli to take a 15-point lead (91-76) in the fourth quarter proved costly for a team that could have bolstered its chances with a win.

In an interview with BAL.NBA.com, Adams said that Al Ahli Tripoli is on a mission to finish the 2025 Nile Conference undefeated.

Deon Thompson scored 10 of his 13 points in the first ten minutes

"The sky is the limit for us. Tomorrow, we are going to come out with the same energy because we want to be 6-0. Tomorrow’s game is equally important as the first five. We are going to stay focused.”

“That’s what it’s supposed to be. We are highly motivated,” he stressed.

When asked how Al Ahli Tripoli managed to keep their composure throughout the game, he explained that the team’s growing chemistry was pivotal.

"We play hard for one another. We are a little undersized, but that didn’t stop us from crashing the glass. Togetherness is what makes us a team.”

Egypt’s Al Ittihad won the Kalahari Conference undefeated, and Al Ahli Tripoli is looking good to follow suit.

“This is our first time in the BAL, and we want to make a statement. Every game is important. Regardless of whether we qualify, we just want to keep that momentum,” Adams added.

APR lost their third straight game in the 2025 Nile Conference with one game left.

What was it like to play in front of a sold-out crowd? Adams said it reminded him of his college basketball days with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.

“It felt like a home college game, playing in front of this crowd. The environment was crazy—it was love!”

Even the small group of Al Ahli Tripoli fans made their presence felt at the BK Arena in Kigali.

"These fans will support us wherever we play. Shout-out to the Libyan fans here in Kigali and back home!"

Al Ahli Tripoli will finish the Nile Conference by playing Nairobi City Thunder, while APR will play MBB.
