Henry Mwinuka is the 2026 BAL Coach of the Year

Henry Mwinuka of the RSSB Tigers has been named the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Coach of the Year. It was announced before the Third-Place Game between Al Ahly Ly vs. Al Ahly SC.

The Tanzanian tactician led the Tigers to the BAL Final, marking the first time a Rwandan team had reached such a milestone.

Under Mwinuka's leadership, the RSSB Tigers reached the 2026 BAL Final with a 6-2 record.

The announcement preceded the 2026 BAL Final between his team against Petro de Luanda.

The 50-year-old is the fifth winner of the BAL Coach of the Year award since it was introduced in the 2022 season.

Previous winners include José Neto (Petro de Luanda, 2022), Mamadou Pabi Gueye (AS Douanes, 2023), Ogoh Odaudu (Rivers Hoopers, 2024), and Abou Chacra (Al Ahly Tripoli, 2025).
