The differences and similarities between the 2026 BAL four semi-finalists

As the 2026 BAL semi-finals approach, set to begin on Wednesday, 27 May, the four contenders reveal stark similarities and differences.

With 38 games into the sixth BAL season, eight of which played in the playoffs, Al Ahly Ly (Libya), Al Ahly SC (Egypt), Petro de Luanda (Angola) and RSSB Tigers (Rwanda) remain in contention for the eagerly anticipated baobab-inspired trophy.

Here are some facts and figures you need to know about the four semi-finalists: 

Win-loss record per team after the quarterfinals

Each semi-finalist has played seven games so far, with all four contenders having won five and lost two. 

Record of last games

Although all four teams have won and lost games, attention is focused on Al Ahly Ly, the only team to reach the Last Four of the season on a five-game winning streak. 

The Libyan team’s last loss occurred during the 2026 Kalahari Conference on 28 March, when they lost 104–90 to their semifinalist opponents, Petro de Luanda. 

Highest scoring team

Al Ahly Ly emerge as the highest-scoring team, having scored a total of 706 points across seven games. Their 118-97 win over. Dar City in the Kalahari Conference was the highest scoring game of the season.

Fewest points allowed

Al Ahly SC of Egypt has allowed the fewest points of the four semi-finalists, conceding 526 points across seven games.

Highest field-goal percentage in the playoffs 

Al-Ahly Ly averaged the highest field-goal percentage in the two-game quarter-final series, at 50.65%. 

Al Ahly SC ranked second with an average of 45.2%. They are followed by the RSSB Tigers (39%) and Petro de Luanda (38.5%).

Living off three-pointers

When it comes to shooting from behind the arc, none can match the RSBB Tigers, who scored a combined total of 105 three-pointers across seven games up to the quarterfinals. 

Leading the rebounding battle

Al Ahly Ly leads all four teams in rebounding with a total of 295 over seven games. The RSSB Tigers come second with 287 rebounds, Al Ahly SC are in third place with 277, and Petro de Luanda are in fourth place with 256.

BAL
