Al Ahly (EGYPT)

Founded in 1907, Al Ahly SC is one of Africa's most successful multi-sports clubs. Basketball has been part of the club's history since the 1920s, with the men's team officially established in 1930 and the women's team following later that decade. Today, Al Ahly is one of Egypt's most decorated basketball clubs, with multiple national league and cup titles.

Al Ahly is two-time African champion, having won the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2016 before capturing the Basketball Africa League title in 2023. The club also competed in the 2024 BAL season, reaching the playoffs before being eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Returning to the BAL in 2026 as Egyptian champions, Al Ahly finished first in the Sahara Conference before advancing to the BAL Finals in Kigali. The team reached the semifinals and concluded its campaign with a fourth-place finish, reinforcing its status as one of the continent's leading basketball clubs.
