Founded in 2025 and based in Sandton, Johannesburg, the Johannesburg Giants are one of South Africa's newest professional basketball clubs. Built on the foundation of the Johannesburg Basketball Academy, established in 2016, the club combines player development with a professional structure and quickly emerged as a rising force in South African basketball.
In their inaugural season, the Giants won the 2025 South African National Club Championship and secured qualification for the 2026 Basketball Africa League through the Road to BAL. Making their BAL debut in 2026, the club competed in the Kalahari Conference in Pretoria, marking the first continental campaign in the organization's history.
