Maktown Flyers (NIGERIA)

Founded in 2023, Maktown Flyers Basketball Club is a Nigerian organization based on a player development model that combines elite basketball training with academic opportunities. Named after Makurdi, known locally as "Maktown," the club was established by Akerannan "Manny" Achii to create pathways for young Nigerian talent from the academy level to professional basketball.

Ahead of the 2026 BAL season, Maktown Flyers acquired the rights to Lagos Legends, the 2025 Nigerian league champions, and entered professional competition. The club became the third Nigerian team to compete in the Basketball Africa League, following Rivers Hoopers and Kwara Falcons. Making their BAL debut in 2026, the Flyers competed in the Kalahari Conference in Pretoria, gaining valuable experience in their first appearance on Africa's biggest club basketball stage.
